<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The twins had their first day out in the snow this year! They were skeptical at first, but they ended up loving the snow. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I told them to go over by the window, fold their hands, and get ready for a picture... and here is what they did!</span></div>

<br />
<ol><li><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Google "separation anxiety with twins" only to find out that the information out there on the web provides comfort that lasts for about ...24 hours.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lay out the situation and all of your stress to family members and receive the same response of "it's a phase, they'll grow out of it."</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sit back, watch your twins crawl/run around the house and PRAY that they take a nap so you can finally use the bathroom...for the first time today (and probably the last). OR...</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">ALL OF THE ABOVE</span></li>
</ol><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Separation anxiety is quite a force of nature that parents of twins have to deal with. I can't figure out still what's more stressful, the twin pregnancy or the fact that I'll never be able to walk out the room without two babies screaming and crying as they chase after me. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And the worse part is that no one can relate or sympathize with you unless they went or are going through the same thing. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Having delivered at 35 weeks and going through the <a href="http://meetthetwins.blogspot.com/2011/01/monodi-twins-and-nicu.html" target="_blank">NICU experience</a>, I never would have thought that I'd end up here. I mean, I knew that my boys would pull through and that they would be normal, active toddlers, but I never imagined how much work they would be! </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">People always told me when they were babies that after 3 months, it gets so much easier. In reality, it feels like I can hardly catch my breath from the moment I wake up till 13 hours later when they finally go to sleep. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So, to all the mothers out there who have a kid (or several kids) whom blessed them with separation anxiety, <a href="mailto:meetthetwins10@hotmail.com" target="_blank">I AM HERE FOR YOU!!! </a> </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We all love our children so much. We really do. But it is a hard and difficult rollercoaster when you have two babies clinging to your body like velcro! Although I do love when Max (the more attached twin) wakes up crying at night and gives a sigh of relief once he sees me in bed and crawls on top of me and falls back asleep. I don't think I could ever get sick of the feeling when my little boy falls asleep on top of me. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have heard that that you should be sure to say "bye-bye" to your little ones when you leave. As tempting as it seems, you shouldn't take the easy way out and slip through the back door while they're napping or playing in the other room. Otherwise they will become accustomed to you leaving them behind if you leave their sight for just a few minutes. Or worse, they will just stick to you all the time for fear that you will leave them (which has happened to me). </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But all we can do is just hope and pray that it is just a phase. Of course there are situations where it can become a serious problem once they hit school. People will always tell you to just let them cry it out because they won't remember it when they get older. Or some people might say that it's because you are giving them too much attention and Oh my goodness you're SPOILING them! </span></div><div><b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></b></div><div><b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Don't listen to them! </span></b></div><div><b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></b></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Whether or not that is true, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that these are YOUR babies. You're the mama, and only Mama (OR Daddy!) knows what is best for her/his babies. There is no right or wrong way. It is something that I learned when my boys were born, but I still need to keep reminding myself that everyday after I talk to people. Sometimes I think that the hardest part about motherhood (or fatherhood) is listening to your heart, following your instinct, and GOING WITH IT. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's so easy to break down and let others try to put you back together the way they think is right. But in the end, you have to do what you feel is best for you and your kids. It feels like yesterday that I <a href="http://meetthetwins.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-twin-c-section-story.html" target="_blank">gave birth</a> and here I am 1 1/2 years later, facing new and more difficult challenges that I never thought I'd encounter. I love my children, and I love having them run to me for protection or love or reassurance. If time flew by this fast, I can't imagine how fast the toddler years will fly by. <b><i>Think of separation anxiety as a blessing, not as a curse. </i></b></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There's a saying that goes "<i>there is no greater love than a mother's love.</i>" Perhaps we should finetune it to say, "<i>there is no greater love than twins' love to their mother.</i>"</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YSoEPalDSys/T2AJESzXvOI/AAAAAAAAAoU/wqugG4S1nvc/s1600/IMG_2598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YSoEPalDSys/T2AJESzXvOI/AAAAAAAAAoU/wqugG4S1nvc/s640/IMG_2598.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div>Max usually climbs on top of me in the middle of his sleep and falls back to sleep. Since I wasn't laying down next to him, he quickly jumped on top of Leo and both slept like angels. </div>Ashleighhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14991171536741266424noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081785873847817473.post-43523998270777483462011-11-05T00:11:00.000-07:002011-11-05T00:11:42.000-07:00Trick or Treating!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's the twins first trick or treating! We decided to go to a mall where they have free trick or treating for kids. Since it was freezing cold outside, we had to bundle them up quite a bit. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now that I have two kids to dress up, I love Halloween!! My mom got Max and Leo their first Halloween costume. I put Max in the ladybug costume and Leo in the pumpkin costume. They didn't seem to have a problem with it except that they keep pulling their hats off! At first, we didn't plan on taking them out for trick or treating since they're too little to say "trick or treat" and to eat the candy (or even take the candy). But I found out that some shopping malls have trick or treating for little kids! So we will probably take them to that and show off their costumes! Can't wait to take pictures for that!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br />

It was in <a href="http://www.prima.co.kr/">Hotel Prima</a>, which is a beautiful hotel! Unfortunately, it was only 1 week since we've been in Korea and the babies weren't yet adjusted to the new environment. This made the party pretty stressful... yet a once in a lifetime kind of thing! The whole time, both babies cried terribly since they were so scared and tired and hungry and unsure of everybody there. Overall, I'm happy they got to experience a korean birthday party (even though they're too young to remember it). </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the ice sculpture the hotel supplied for the party.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TCAoMlKznpw/ToTux8BDl_I/AAAAAAAAAiA/ZX5Vs72bBp4/s1600/IMG_8195.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TCAoMlKznpw/ToTux8BDl_I/AAAAAAAAAiA/ZX5Vs72bBp4/s640/IMG_8195.jpg" width="425" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Max outside getting his picture taken.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6cspo2lRbSo/ToTsUjdrWlI/AAAAAAAAAgg/As3xh4kazIw/s1600/IMG_0023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6cspo2lRbSo/ToTsUjdrWlI/AAAAAAAAAgg/As3xh4kazIw/s640/IMG_0023.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And now he's crying.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZaXWn2zpzYc/ToTsZ-MBeJI/AAAAAAAAAgk/VDjrxgNw-9w/s1600/IMG_0027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZaXWn2zpzYc/ToTsZ-MBeJI/AAAAAAAAAgk/VDjrxgNw-9w/s640/IMG_0027.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I ended up having to hold both of them like this 98% of the time. If someone paid me to do that all over again, I would absolutely NOT do that again!! It was like two babies on caffeine -- they kept trying to escape from the bathtub and there wasn't enough room, which resulted in crying, angry babies who refused to sit still. But the naked baby pictures we got made it totally worth it. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

All we heard were screaming, giggles, and laughing escaping their mouths. Of course, they stuck by one another and kept zipping from the kitchen to the hallway to the living room. Overall, they <i>loved</i> being naked. Must have reminded them of their womb time. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

They are very demanding, especially when it comes time for feeding. The second they see the bottle inside the other baby's mouth, the other one immediately hops over and tries to grab it away. So greedy! If you're trying to take a nap, they come over and hit you on the head. But who cares.. they're still <b>cute</b>! <br />
I have been reading a lot that babies <i>rarely</i> wean themselves from breastfeeding before they are one year old. Well, our twins must be that small exception that does stop breastfeeding, unfortunately. Why does this happen? Such a tragic event!<br />
<br />
Breastfeeding the past 5 months has been such a rewarding and uplifting experience. Since I pretty much am not able to get either baby to nurse, I can now say that I regret not trying harder to breastfeed more often in the past. Perhaps it was mostly due to poor latching...which eventually led to frustration and a decrease in nursing sessions until I was feeding them with the bottle 98% of the time. I feel very sad that the babies <b>never</b> try to breastfeed or anxiously <i>look</i> for the breast when they're hungry (which they used to do all of the time!). All of a sudden, one day, I tried breastfeeding them and they immediately cried and arched their backs as if it was pure torture. <br />
<br />
I have read on other forums that this is called a <b>nursing strike</b> and it commonly occurs around 4-6 months. This is the time when babies are going through new phases, such as crawling, eating solids, becoming more conscious of everything around them, talking, grabbing things, etc. Who wants to be forced to stay in one position and eat when they can go explore and try out all of these new things they're experiencing?! I have also read that it is just a nursing strike and the baby will go back to breastfeeding eventually if you keep trying. <br />
<br />
The only time I am successful at breastfeeding is when they have already fallen asleep (almost) while drinking the bottle. I'll do a quick switch and trick them and <i>sometimes</i> get them to nurse. I'm successful 10% of the time. <br />
<br />
I guess the only thing moms can do when facing this bump in the road is to be proud and thankful for the time they had in the past with breastfeeding. <br />
<br />
Something I have also realized is that <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;">consuming large amounts of </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #660000;">chocolate</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;"> may lead to a more fussy, crying baby if you feed him/her your breast milk</span></b>. This is from personal experience. So I try to not eat chocolate if I know I'm going to <i>attempt</i> to breastfeed that day. I have read that your diet can consist of only M&M's and this would NOT affect your breast milk. Well, I always feel the babies cry more than usual on days when I eat chocolate. <br />
<br />
So, hopefully this is just another phase that the twins are going through and that it will pass. K<a href="http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/back-to-breast.html">ellymom.com </a>states that "self-weaning is almost never abrupt." Let's hope it's true! I will update this post in the future!!Ashleighhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14991171536741266424noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081785873847817473.post-59135390941837886732011-04-15T16:26:00.000-07:002011-04-15T18:44:26.861-07:006 Months - Solids!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">SO much has happened in the past couple months and there are <i>TRULY</i> not enough hours in the day. The twins have been trying to "hop" (can't crawl yet) and they just started eating solids a couple days ago. I've decided to make all of their solid food rather than buying it at the store. It's going to be a big commitment, but I hope to stick to it! It's not that commercial baby food is necessarily <i>bad</i>, it's just that homemade baby food is more fresh and I know exactly what goes into it. To start off, I'm feeding them brown rice cereal. So easy to make! The first time they weren't so sure about it, but the second time, they actually open their mouths eagerly... even though 90% of it spills out since they don't know to close their mouths!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you're interested in <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;">making baby cereal</span></b>, brown rice is a great first choice since it's more nutritious than white rice (<a href="http://wholesomebabyfood.com/">wholesomebabyfood.com</a>). </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>1. Grind the rice so it's a fine powder.</i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>2. Store in an airtight container until you're ready to use it.</i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>3. Boil 1 cup of water and add 1/4 c. rice powder gradually, stirring constantly.</i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>4. Add formula or breast milk to desired consistency. </i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since I like to make it fresh, I usually just boil about 1/2 c. water and add a few tablespoons of rice powder. I was told by the doctor to keep doing this for about a month, and if they still spit out most of it, add a little fruit to it to sweeten the rice up!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My mom got me some <b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #a64d79;">Gerber BPA free baby spoons </span></b>that are great. Sometimes I feel like I have two new puppies!! I am happy to say that they are now able to say mom! Well, technically it's "mom" in korean... <i>eomma</i>, or <i>oma. </i>So everytime they cry, I always hear "eommmmmaaaaaaa"! <br />
<br />
We put Leo in the Pampers diaper box. <br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XsPJHW7AznM/TajgDlZuG9I/AAAAAAAAAYU/eHEKG_srWH4/s1600/photo.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XsPJHW7AznM/TajgDlZuG9I/AAAAAAAAAYU/eHEKG_srWH4/s400/photo.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I went to grab a diaper for 2 seconds and Max was already trying to get away.<br />

<br />
Leo... and cartoon Leo<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iqf8up-RelA/TajgMocHrAI/AAAAAAAAAYY/cedqxe2wCTI/s1600/untitled+folder+2-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iqf8up-RelA/TajgMocHrAI/AAAAAAAAAYY/cedqxe2wCTI/s400/untitled+folder+2-1.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Their favorite toy right now is probably this elephant. It plays a melody if you press it and it's the only thing that will stop them from crying! I found Max asleep like this hugging the elephant :)<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bR8LMajeV4M/TajS71dRXbI/AAAAAAAAAXk/2_6NrJDC704/s1600/photo-4.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bR8LMajeV4M/TajS71dRXbI/AAAAAAAAAXk/2_6NrJDC704/s400/photo-4.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Max, again, sleeping and smiling... must be dreaming about an unlimited supply of milk to drink!<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piyrRvPeZ4E/TajS8k4kSnI/AAAAAAAAAXo/0Fos4Ac8n7g/s1600/photo-5.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piyrRvPeZ4E/TajS8k4kSnI/AAAAAAAAAXo/0Fos4Ac8n7g/s400/photo-5.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Max was hiding behind this blanket. Looked like a ninja baby ready to attack!<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A6HaFhOl2OU/TajS9Do8L4I/AAAAAAAAAXs/nvG-LmlJUOY/s1600/photo-6.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A6HaFhOl2OU/TajS9Do8L4I/AAAAAAAAAXs/nvG-LmlJUOY/s400/photo-6.jpeg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Max (left), Leo (right)<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9S09R0KX5bE/TajS91CWKDI/AAAAAAAAAXw/tvzG96O7pvM/s1600/photo-8.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9S09R0KX5bE/TajS91CWKDI/AAAAAAAAAXw/tvzG96O7pvM/s400/photo-8.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
They are starting to fall asleep on their backs more now. Leo passed out in a mound of blankets.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GDrwJG5YT24/TajS-pCP4NI/AAAAAAAAAX0/n6L3hEDV0v8/s1600/photo-9.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GDrwJG5YT24/TajS-pCP4NI/AAAAAAAAAX0/n6L3hEDV0v8/s400/photo-9.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Whenever we feed them, they <i>insist </i>on holding the bottle. See below for example :<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uaj9r_gewNE/TajS_BANuJI/AAAAAAAAAX4/_WutP1VKrw0/s1600/photo-10.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uaj9r_gewNE/TajS_BANuJI/AAAAAAAAAX4/_WutP1VKrw0/s400/photo-10.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Leo was jealous watching Max hold the bottle all by himself.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hmLbHVP_GLY/TajTACR-FEI/AAAAAAAAAX8/TeyYhzyS1nw/s1600/photo-11.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hmLbHVP_GLY/TajTACR-FEI/AAAAAAAAAX8/TeyYhzyS1nw/s400/photo-11.jpeg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />

Max fell asleep after I put him in his bear coat. They no longer fit into these coats, unfortunately. So sad.<br />

When the earthquake happened, news spread so quickly and my husband and I first heard about it within minutes. After watching the live footage online, I couldn't help but think of all the children affected by it. It made me realize how we all take things for granted.. food, water, a heated room to sleep in at night. Disasters keep happening all over the world, and each time it seems to hit harder than the last. Temperatures have gone just above freezing in Japan, yet a man jumped on his bicycle and went to search for his wife while also writing her name on a card and putting it on the back of his bike. An older woman was holding a toddler's arms up in the air as tears fell from his face as he was checked for radiation. Another elder man was crying because he lost his only family members: his daughter and two grandkids. I remember hearing him say while crying on the news that he only hopes that they were all together when they died. </span></span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

I can't imagine living my life like I normally do every day and then having to lose any of my kids or family members. Enjoy each second with your family. Time is ticking and we will never know when our last moment is. So all the crying and stress and screaming that babies let out are just <i>little things</i>. What matters is trying to make the most of every second we have. Please pray hard for Japan. Long after the news stops shedding its lights on Japan, many will still have no home or place to go to. </span></span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Twins are a handful, especially when you get little sleep each night. Sometimes it can be mentally exhausting for my husband and me, but what can I say... I love my babies! My husband is starting to think that they look like me completely. Perhaps they will have his personality then?? It would NOT surprise me since they are the most wildest, energetic, aggressive, feisty, and loudest babies I've seen. They even get their emotions mixed up and laugh and cry at the same time, literally. My husband has a lot of energy, as well. At the same time, the babies love to laugh, cuddle, and just lay on top of you all day and "hang out"... while being attached to you. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm still waiting for them to interact with toys more and grab at things. I am excited that they are SO into books, though. Seems like they love looking at books the most at the moment. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Despite the madness that we endure everyday, it <i>still</i> warms my heart to see them in bed asleep. It makes me feel so grateful and lucky and blessed.</span><br />

</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">They're not crawling yet, but I can only imagine trying to keep them from getting into things when they do! Already, they throw tantrums and act like it's the end of the world when they can't move as much as they want to. For some reason, the only way I can picture the whole <i>crawling</i> phase is when someone stretches a rubberband... and then lets go. I guess I'll just have to start making videos rather than taking pictures then.</span><br />

Actually, the first two months took forever to get through, but after that, time has flown. When I think back on the first month, I can hardly remember it... it literally seems like five <i>years</i> ago! It's now that I regret not keeping a journal and jotting down all my thoughts and feelings I encountered during the early months. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When I look at pictures of when the twins were just a few weeks old, it's hard to believe that those were my babies! They looked so different. The left picture below is Max when he was maybe 2 weeks old.. and the picture on the right is just a few days ago. We decided to do a midnight grocery shopping trip with the babies since it'd be the best time to go out without them crying. They were asleep and perfect! Only problem is we had to carry them throughout the grocery store and one woman came up to us and said she thought we were carrying two stuffed toys... they looked like big old dolls over our shoulders!! As heavy as they are, I got to admit... I LOVE carrying them around in public as opposed to pushing them in a stroller. :)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

Being 4 months, I'm starting to be able to distinguish more easily between Max and Leo. Max, for instance, has more feminine features..as much as he probably doesn't want to hear that. His eyelashes are incredibly LONG!! I think they look pretty... unfortunately, people have mistaken him for a girl a few times. His eyebrows are also more groomed and a little darker than Leo's. Lastly, Max has long hair (well, longer than Leo) and is a tad bit curlier. Leo, on the other hand, has more fuzzy eyebrows and more hair that make up the eyebrows. His hair is also shorter and mainly fuzz on the top of his head. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">They both squawk and talk a lot, but Max tends to be the more calm baby while Leo loves to stay active and grab our attention ALL of the time. He's also a fussier eater. But he <i style="font-weight: bold;">loves</i> to be held!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's still a little difficult to tell apart their personalities. I can't wait until we start to see more differences in them. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Max (left), Leo (right)</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gvurEeQPG0U/TWTHXKVZZoI/AAAAAAAAAVA/4Mpc6ElqMJg/s1600/IMG_5541.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gvurEeQPG0U/TWTHXKVZZoI/AAAAAAAAAVA/4Mpc6ElqMJg/s640/IMG_5541.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-07hfGXd49io/TWTH0SbgXjI/AAAAAAAAAVE/xIkBnfDWbR4/s1600/IMG_5543.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-07hfGXd49io/TWTH0SbgXjI/AAAAAAAAAVE/xIkBnfDWbR4/s640/IMG_5543.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Leo, "peace"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2sAAEH85oLs/TWTIfKEHfAI/AAAAAAAAAVI/bUFyrL2YZHw/s1600/IMG_5545.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2sAAEH85oLs/TWTIfKEHfAI/AAAAAAAAAVI/bUFyrL2YZHw/s640/IMG_5545.jpg" width="425" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Max....definitely starting to be the plumper one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pSlbc1uVoQ0/TWTI4yP3VeI/AAAAAAAAAVM/Ce--B4-NU1s/s1600/IMG_5557.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pSlbc1uVoQ0/TWTI4yP3VeI/AAAAAAAAAVM/Ce--B4-NU1s/s640/IMG_5557.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
His belly is sticking out, although it's hard to see in this picture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dRsQWx7p4Vw/TWTJTyGWQuI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/BTe_sDvBwkg/s1600/IMG_5558.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dRsQWx7p4Vw/TWTJTyGWQuI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/BTe_sDvBwkg/s640/IMG_5558.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Leo<br />

Seriously! I love getting good deals, and always check Twitter daily to find what's happening, where the deals are, etc etc... </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, one morning, there was a deal from a <a href="http://www.groupon.com/subscriptions/new?division_p=seattle">Groupon</a> clone, <a href="http://dealpulp.com/">DealPulp</a>, where you could get $15.00 credit (or something like that) with free shipping for just $1.00. I was hesitant and thought it was too good to be true, especially since I could only spend it on one particular website which I've never heard of. After doing research, I quickly jumped on it and whipped my credit card out! To this day, I regret not creating more email accounts and purchasing more of that deal... :(</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, here are my three Elmo dolls! Plus, I got an elmo guitar and DVD. I decided to wash the dolls once and read that you should <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #990000; font-size: large;"><b>NEVER</b></span> put plush toys in the washer machine. People said you can<i> maybe</i> get by putting <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #134f5c; font-weight: bold;">small toys </span><span class="Apple-style-span">in the machine, but good luck with large ones because they will for sure never look the same. Well, I don't know what toys they washed, but I just threw all three of them in the washer, on high speed, hot water, heavy duty hot air drying... pretty much the worst washing situation you could put these guys in. After I took them out, they still looked the same!!</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Max fell asleep next to the Elmo dolls. I wonder how long it will be before he is bigger than the Elmo doll.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZstKDR35E6Y/TV2n_ynpYNI/AAAAAAAAAUs/GQPx9bECgoA/s1600/IMG_5573.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3oaBXQJpHUM/TV2oFaFfhOI/AAAAAAAAAUw/HAQXaJUR1Dk/s1600/IMG_5574.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3oaBXQJpHUM/TV2oFaFfhOI/AAAAAAAAAUw/HAQXaJUR1Dk/s400/IMG_5574.jpg" width="400" /></a></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's Max again with small Elmo. </span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Max with medium Elmo.</span></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: CENTER;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WccjZnkukKA/TV2n2b3kIYI/AAAAAAAAAUk/pPpIlKRmx-U/s1600/IMG_5561.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WccjZnkukKA/TV2n2b3kIYI/AAAAAAAAAUk/pPpIlKRmx-U/s400/IMG_5561.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I did recently find out that TV is the worst thing for a baby under 2 years old. Eeek! It causes aggression, ADHD, and all sorts of other things later in their life. Plus, they did a study and found out that babies who watched TV knew 10 less words by age 10 than those who didn't watch TV as a baby. So, we don't let them watch anymore. This time below was just an exception since I was doing laundry and couldn't hold Leo (which makes him stop crying). I hope we don't end up having really angry kids later in life. </span><br />

They are now 4 1/2 months! It's amazing how their milk intake can double so quickly. Max has finally hit the 13 pounds mark and Leo is just slightly under by a few ounces. They're still sucking their fingers ...24/7. Even when we feed them the bottle, they manage to find a way to stick a finger in the side of their mouth and suck it at the same time. That usually slows the feeding process down by at least a few minutes. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's Leo in the swing sucking like crazy on his one finger. He's a <i>finger sucker</i>, not a thumb sucker.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DoPp-EV9-sU/TVvzPpkWwaI/AAAAAAAAATY/s5ArancEJEU/s1600/Desktop10.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DoPp-EV9-sU/TVvzPpkWwaI/AAAAAAAAATY/s5ArancEJEU/s640/Desktop10.jpg" width="640" /></a> </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: CENTER;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Their feet and hands are getting so big. I had to take a picture of them so I don't forget that they were once this size. They always look like little </span><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><i>angels</i></span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> once they fall asleep</span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The twins have been <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #b45f06;">crying</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;">squawking</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">yelling</span> like crazy since this past weekend. I heard around four months babies start becoming more aware of their vocal chords and like to play around with them, especially when they figure out that it gets your attention <i>a lot</i> quicker!! </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My husband and I definitely agree that it's AT LEAST 10 TIMES worse than just crying. It's a piercing yelling noise that's so sharp. Sometimes I think that they just like to make that noise... </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Also, they're teething, which has resulted in double the amount of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #990000;">drool</span> all day. Feeding them has become a serious procedure since they are crying a lot more now. But it's reassuring to always read from other moms that it will pass, even though it may <b>seem like forever</b>. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, now they cry and have become 50 times more active, they pass out right by the time we actually manage to feed them. Unfortunately, their naps only last 20 minutes. Here's Leo... passed out and snoring halfway through the feeding. Yes, we suffered more in that first month than we did our entire lives, but it passed... just like everyone told us it would. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">According to <a href="http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurt.html">kellymom.com</a>, a growth spurt is when babies <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #741b47; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">eat more often than usual and act more fussy</span> than usual. Thus, milk intake increases, but is temporary (unless baby is BF exclusively). Not only is it due to a <i>physical</i> growth spurt, but also to their newly developed behaviors such as walking, crawling, or talking. Milk helps develop not only the <i><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;">brain</span></b>, </i>but also the <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;"><b>body</b></span>. </i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">By 3 months, the twins were so much easier to handle since they were having fun practicing to crawl. But it finally happened: they hit a growth spurt. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They're eating at least double the amount they usually do! It's so stressful pumping milk and then having it disappear in a matter of seconds... only to result in crying babies again. The best solution is to breastfeed so it can tell the body to produce more milk... but it's not always the most favorable option. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anyways, Max is waking up sometimes around midnight (which is not a problem since I'm still awake). I actually <i>enjoy</i> night feedings (even though it only happened twice) because they don't cry.. they just eat quickly and pass out! So convenient! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here are the pictures we HAD to take because he was just so cute and SOOOO <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">s</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #783f04;">l</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: orange;">e</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #274e13;">e</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;">p</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75;">y</span></span>. Don't let his sleepy precious face deceive you... he pretty much attacked the bottle when I put it by his mouth because he was so hungry :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TU4aTFHdbTI/AAAAAAAAASk/E5U0IaS1xJ4/s1600/IMG_5485.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TU4aTFHdbTI/AAAAAAAAASk/E5U0IaS1xJ4/s400/IMG_5485.jpg" width="264" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I noticed my arm looks HUGE, but it's just because Max's head is so tiny still. No, really... it is. When they're this little and precious, it reminds me of how much I wish they could stay like this. My husband were even talking the other night how we don't want them to grow up. We would be happy if they would just stay babies <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #073763;">forever</span>. :)<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: purple; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b><br />
</b></span><br />
There are two things that Max and Leo love to eat:<i> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #990000;">milk</span> </i>and their <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">fingers</span>. </i>Right after I feed them (and I feed them a lot) they immediately shove their hand in their mouth. Sometimes if they're next to each other, they'll grab the other's arm and start sucking on it. Yet, Max is the one who always sucks his thumb constantly; Leo just sticks to the whole hand. <br />
We did notice that Leo sucks his left hand and Max sucks his right hand (with the exception to the picture below). Perhaps it shows whether they'll be a lefty or righty??<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuhfbfitkI/AAAAAAAAASA/2FLUGnsnTGI/s1600/Desktop8.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuhfbfitkI/AAAAAAAAASA/2FLUGnsnTGI/s640/Desktop8.jpg" width="640" /></a> </div><div style="text-align: center;">ANOTHER thing that the twins LOVE is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #0c343d;">watching TV</span>. The second I turn it on, their heads look over so fast to the TV and they just stare at it. If I let them, they'd watch it for hours probably. It actually has become a problem because when I feed them, they insist on watching TV at the same time and refuse to turn their head toward me. Their neck muscle is just too strong!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And if I try to block their eye sight from the TV, they fuss... a lot. So I've resorted to taking them in the bedroom to feed them where it's quiet. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">In the picture below, Max (gray t-shirt) is watching TV. It wasn't easy getting them <i>both</i> to look at the camera since the TV was on in the background!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">ALSO, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #134f5c;">I love </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #741b47;"><a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/division.do?cid=6149">OLD NAVY</a></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #134f5c;"> baby apparel</span></b></span>. I usually don't like their store since the clothes seem over-sized, but these <a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=65520">Old Navy baby shirts</a> they have on are so nice and fit well! Plus, there's no tag in the back (a major plus)! I have some other Old Navy clothes for them that I like as well. The clothes there for babies are reasonable when it's on <a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=26619&pageID=0">sale</a>... totally worth it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I tried to match them in green in the picture below. They look so big! Well, they definitely feel big when I hold them now. </div><div style="margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuhfnRVFXI/AAAAAAAAASI/Ya-MQM0yMsY/s1600/Desktop9.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuhfnRVFXI/AAAAAAAAASI/Ya-MQM0yMsY/s640/Desktop9.jpg" width="640" /></a> </div><div style="clear: both; text-align: CENTER;"><br />
My mother-in-law made four baby pillows for the twins. They're handmade! She must have spent a LONG time sewing all those tiny patterns (she did it by hand too)... and the butterflies on the bottom!!! She filled it with these little puffy seeds so it's like a bean bag, but more puffy and ...nicer! The babies like them a lot.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuq4vzNklI/AAAAAAAAASQ/i4KbeL9-fCM/s1600/IMG_5475.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUuq4vzNklI/AAAAAAAAASQ/i4KbeL9-fCM/s400/IMG_5475.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I put my husband in charge of the babies and when I came back, I found Leo in a pile of his toys in the swing. It looks like he's sad in the picture, but we've come to the conclusion that that's just how he looks!! My husband said they get that from me since I always have a "<i>serious" </i>look on my face. <i>Like mother, like sons!</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurik7mbOI/AAAAAAAAASU/xy0bMACYE-A/s1600/IMG_5428.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurik7mbOI/AAAAAAAAASU/xy0bMACYE-A/s400/IMG_5428.jpg" width="265" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TU0Cncb2KtI/AAAAAAAAASg/ZfDjUTYwmKk/s1600/IMG_5429.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TU0Cncb2KtI/AAAAAAAAASg/ZfDjUTYwmKk/s640/IMG_5429.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I was always afraid in the beginning that the babies wouldn't laugh or smile much when they got older!!! Well, I was wrong. They smile and laugh at EVERYTHING! When I feed them, I can't even look at them because they will smile and the milk will pour out of their mouth! Whatever we do, they think it's the funniest thing ever! If I look away, and then look at the babies, they laugh and think it's a game. <br />
<br />
They go crazy if you tickle them too. It's like the <b>perfect age </b>for them... so fun! <br />
<br />
Leo (left), Max (right..turquoise)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurm25HHHI/AAAAAAAAASY/G3ZQsdeThyE/s1600/IMG_5460.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurm25HHHI/AAAAAAAAASY/G3ZQsdeThyE/s400/IMG_5460.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Ok, so I had a cute onesie<i> </i>on Max, and couldn't help notice that he looks kinda girly... maybe it was his eyelashes, or he just has feminine features...? HA, no! Turns out I got a girl's outfit instead of a boy's. You can see the puffy shoulders... it's totally for a girl, not a boy. Oh well, as you can see, it didn't seem to bother him.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurtUU43sI/AAAAAAAAASc/bWawNIr4xV0/s1600/IMG_5461.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUurtUU43sI/AAAAAAAAASc/bWawNIr4xV0/s640/IMG_5461.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

Had a Gap jean jacket, a pair of blue jeans from my Aunt, and a polo from my friend. Put it all together and we get a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;"><b>James-Dean-Wannabe Baby</b></span>!! Well, actually, my husband thought he looked like James Dean since Leo is acting all <i>cool</i> in these photos. <br />
<br />
So what did I do after? I looked up James Dean to see what he looked like and got these pictures of him....<br />
<br />
Whatever, James Dean, <b>Leo is <i>WAY</i> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #b45f06; font-size: large;">cuter</span>.</b><br />

A doula told me that I should be wary of reading as it can cause more stress than knowledge. So I put down the baby books and instead found myself going to different websites every night. All the hours I spent reading....nothing prepared me for twins. It was the second after I delivered that all the learning and figuring out and knowledge poured out onto the table. It was too much, and I wasn't ready for <i>any</i> of it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br />
</div>My OB doctor told me that we have Monochorionic-Diamniotic (Mo-Di) twins. Mo-Di twins share the same placenta but have their own amniotic sacs. Mo-Di twins are identical. Since they had their own amniotic sac, their chances of survival were greater than if they shared one. This was good. But there was always a chance that their umbilical cords could get tangled up around their necks. This meant visits to the hospital every other week for tests. During the 3rd trimester, our visits increased to 3 times EVERY week for even more tests. By this time, I was so huge, I asked the doctor if she could just do the surgery right then and right there (jokingly, of course). <br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUKYmfxnuEI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/02JqJei_oBM/s1600/IMG_3585.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUKYmfxnuEI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/02JqJei_oBM/s320/IMG_3585.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>At the end of my 34th week, my water broke and I went into labor. I had to have an emergency c-section. Baby B (Leo) who was presented<i> head first</i> and was supposed to come out first had slipped back up in me and Baby A (Max) came out first. Weighing four and five pounds, they were healthy babies except Leo was having Apnea problems. The doctors recorded his breaths stopping for longer than 60 seconds at a time. I was unaware of what was going on with Leo since I was drugged up and out of it for the first 2 days. <br />
<br />
I remember asking after I was wheeled in my room when the babies would be brought back to me. No one gave me an answer, but they just said "soon". <br />
<br />
After an hour, my husband carried Max in my room and he stayed by my side for the next 4 days in the hospital (even while I took a shower there). They even made him sleep next to me in my arms. But Leo stayed behind in the NICU. My husband was pretty much gone the whole hospital stay because he was with Leo. Everytime I pumped 10 mL of breast milk (which is NOT a lot), he would quickly run, and I mean, <i>run</i>, with the little tube of it all the way to the NICU ward to give to Leo. I finished my surgery around 4pm, and was alone for the rest of the day and night since I had no family in town and my husband was in the NICU. <br />
<br />
I really did not realize how serious Leo's situation was. I thought it was normal that they had him there because he was just having difficulty drinking. But later on my husband said it was pretty serious and his whole body would turn dark purple if you tried to hold him or feed him in the beginning. After I heard that, I cried so hard because I can't believe I wasn't by his side the entire time. <br />
<br />
The next day, my husband had to run errands and I couldn't stand being away from my other baby. So I kept pushing myself to walk around the room by myself since the nurses refused to let me go to the NICU until I could walk on my own. Finally, I did it later at night and put Max in my arms and wheeled down to the NICU. Well, what I was about to see would break my heart.<br />
<br />
I said earlier that nothing prepared me for twins. But, to be honest, <i>nothing</i> and <i>NOBODY</i> tells you anything about what it's like to have a child in the NICU. My mom kept telling me that it's normal for one twin to be in there for a little while and my situation was far better than a lot of other twin moms. This is so true, and I'm thankful even to this day, but all pain is relevant when it's <i>your </i>child in there hooked up to tubes and machines.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUKVwN9CFmI/AAAAAAAAAQo/7iReZHFHhWg/s1600/IMG_3710.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7v39R9bIHX4/TUKVwN9CFmI/AAAAAAAAAQo/7iReZHFHhWg/s320/IMG_3710.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a> </div><br />
Leo was in his own room and was in an incubator. I could barely see inside because there was so much glare from the hallway lights on the incubator glass. I'd always have to bend down and peer into the small arm holes. The first thing I noticed was how much he looked like Max. I smiled so much. The next thing I couldn't believe was how many wires were hooked up on his body and tangled all in his bed. The beeping noise on the machine will never leave my head, and I believe that all NICU parents can agree with that. If I'd even walk too close to him, the beeping would start. The nurses told me that when it would beep, it meant he would stop breathing and they'd need to take him if the beeping didn't stop. It kept going off the whole time. <br />
<br />
I cried a lot. I could barely even watch Leo because I cried the whole time and couldn't see one thing. Not to mention that my husband's parents and my parent's were out of state <i>and</i> out of the country. <br />
<br />
It seemed like every 2 minutes I would whisper, "I love you, Leo". Then I'd cry so much I couldn't say anything else. I was so afraid to reach through the arm hole and touch him because he looked so skinny and fragile. He slept so well all by himself and it broke my heart. He needed his mama and I couldn't be there for him after the birth. All I could think the whole time I was in the hospital was how scared he must be to leave my belly and enter this world and be alone without his mom by his side. He never even got to see what his mom looked like.<br />
<br />
Yet, every time I visited the NICU, I always felt this peaceful calm rush over me. It was always quiet and dark, and the only thing you could hear were beeping noises. Every time you heard beeping, you'd jump and think it was your baby beeping. Then your baby would actually beep and you'd get mad at the nurses for not getting there quick enough. <br />
<br />
He finally got his own enclosed room with a bed and bathroom for my husband and I. He ended up staying a week and a half longer than I did. Every day was the same routine. We would walk through the entire hospital to the 4th floor. We'd come to a telephone and have to pick it up and talk with the nurse on the other side of the door. She'd see us and ask us the same questions every day. Then she'd unlock the door for us and give us bracelets or stickers. We'd then walk into Leo's room, and that's when the tears would start.<br />
<br />
Again, the only thing I could say to him was, "I love you, Leo." Mostly because I was crying too much to say another word. My husband would tell me every time that he was going to get better and it would be ok. But he also struggled to hold back his tears. <br />
<br />
Yes, we were so fortunate that Leo's situation was not worse. But no matter how many people say that "it's normal" or "you're lucky", it was the hardest thing I had to go through in my entire life. Picking up that phone every day and walking down the NICU hall is a whole different experience that no one will ever understand until their child is in there. It could have been harder for me since we had no family with us at the time. Plus, I was still in shock from the surgery and from, well, having <i>twins. </i>My heart goes out there to all moms who have to walk down the NICU hall every day. <br />
<br />
The day I came home from the hospital, I put up a pink post-it sticker on my bedroom wall with the nurse's handwriting on it showing the NICU's phone number. I called that number every single day to see if Leo was coming home. The nurses ended up recognizing my voice whenever I called. <br />
<br />
Today, the sticker is <i>still</i> on the wall. I don't know why we haven't taken it down. I guess it reminds me of how lucky we truly are and how blessed our family is.<br />

We just got back from running errands and had to take pictures of them in these before we undressed them!<br />
<br />
We got these snow coats at Walmart. I think they were $20 each. They're super nice and thick enough for the baby to stay warm outside during Winter. But not too warm so they overheat. Plus, they'll make your baby look super cute! It has a zipper so it's easy to put on over their clothes. <br />
<br />
Leo is in the gray suit, Max is in the blue one. Max got quite comfy in his.<br />
